- Early Career - Please submit to a main session category during this deadline. If not accepted to a main session, a secondary review for referral to an Early Career session will take place.
- The Nursing/Allied Health Category will accept case study and/or abstract study submissions. There are separate submission forms.
- ALL Presenting and Co-Authors on Abstracts/Case Studies and Course Directors/Faculty must submit their disclosures prior to the submission deadline.
- Upon entry of the submission, the submitter will select "save and edit later".
- At that time, all authors/faculty will be notified via email of the pending submission and the requirement to submit disclosures prior to deadline.
- The email notification will contain a link for each author to log into ASLMS Disclosure Page to complete the disclosure form.*
- It is the responsibility of the presenting author to make sure all authors indicated on the abstract or case study submit disclosures.
- It is the responsibility of the submitter/course director to make sure all faculty indicated on the course proposal submit disclosures.
*Please note that the disclosures should reflect 2022 ACCME guidelines. This includes 24 months of all relationships, not just potential conflicts and no longer requires spouse information.
Why Submit an Abstract or Case Study?
- The ASLMS Annual Conference is the world’s most prestigious gathering of medical laser and related technology professionals.
- Approximately 70% of submitted abstracts will be selected for oral and/or ePoster presentations.
- Accepted abstracts and case studies are published in a special, online-only edition of Lasers in Surgery and Medicine, the internationally renowned journal of ASLMS.
- Accepted ePosters are placed on electronic display at the conference and published on the ASLMS website following the conference for member-only viewing. A limited number of ePosters will be selected for presentation within the ePoster Town Hall.
- Awards are given for best abstract or case study in each category (qualifications may apply). See below.

Categories and Subtopics
The ASLMS accepts abstracts from any specialty. Click on the category link below to view additional information and a list of suggested subtopics for submission. When you submit your abstract, you will be asked to indicate the subtopic.
WHAT IF I AM AN EARLY CAREER SUBMITTER? (up to 10 years post-graduate)
Speakers are requested to attend in person. However, if there are circumstances beyond your control that prevent traveling to the conference, the program chairs will review exceptions.
Abstract & Case Study Awards
BEST OVERALL BASIC SCIENCE AND TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH ABSTRACT AWARD
- Abstracts from each category are nominated by Section Chairs.
- Nominee must submit an ePoster to accompany the abstract.
- Abstracts and ePosters are reviewed by the Awards Review Committee and final awardee is selected.
- Winner receives $1,000 honoraria and recognition.
DR. RICHARD E FITZPATRICK CLINICAL RESEARCH AND INNOVATIONS (BEST OVERALL CLINICAL) ABSTRACT AWARD
- Abstracts from each category are nominated by Section Chairs.
- Nominee must submit an ePoster to accompany the abstract.
- Abstracts and ePosters are reviewed by the Awards Review Committee and final awardee is selected.
- Winner receives $1,000 honoraria and recognition.
BEST OF SESSION ABSTRACT / CASE STUDY AWARDS
- Abstracts / Case Studies are nominated by Section Chairs for each category.
- Winner receives $150 honoraria and recognition.
OUTSTANDING EARLY CAREER ABSTRACT AWARDS
- Abstracts are nominated by Early Career Session Section Chair(s).
- Winner receives $150 honoraria and recognition.
WOMEN IN ENERGY-BASED DEVICES EARLY CAREER DEVELOPMENT AWARD
- This award is given in recognition of a high-quality abstract study, submitted by the initial abstract deadline, by an Early Career author and accepted to an abstract session for the current ASLMS Annual Conference.
- The ASLMS Central Office will notify qualifying, accepted abstract authors when application forms for this award are available and details of the submission process.
- Either a characteristic of the clinical/research team or an experience during the study must exemplify at least 2 or more goals of the ASLMS Women in Energy-Based Devices Committee:
- Highlight the excellence of women involved in ASLMS.
- Address the challenges women may confront in academic and other professional settings
- Advance networking and training opportunities.
- Educate ASLMS members about gender-bias.
- Encourage young women to choose STEM careers especially those involving energy-based technologies.
- The selected awardee will receive a $500 honoraria and recognition. The award will be given during the Celebration of ASLMS Women in Energy-Based Devices Event.
